How to Fill Your KCET Options Correctly

1

Login to KEA Portal

Visit the official KEA website and log in using your CET Number and the secret password provided during document verification.

2

Research College Codes

Every college and branch has a unique 4-character code (e.g., E001 for RVCE). Use our predictor to find these codes for your preferred branches.

3

Enter Options in Priority

The most important step. Enter your choices from most preferred to least preferred. The system matches from the top of your list downwards.

4

Mock Allotment & Revision

Check the mock allotment results to see where you might land. You can add, delete, or re-order your options after the mock results.

5

Final Submission & Locking

Review your final list carefully and save it. Ensure you have a 'Safety' net of colleges with cutoffs higher than your rank.

Avoid "Not Allotted" Status

Every year, hundreds of high-ranking students get no seat in Round 1 because they only entered top-tier colleges. Always include 10-15 "Safety" colleges where your rank is well within the 2025 cutoff.

Counseling & Option Entry FAQs

When does KCET 2026 Option Entry start?

Typically, the KEA option entry window opens 10-15 days after the document verification process is completed, usually in the month of July.

Is there a limit to how many options I can enter?

No. You can enter an unlimited number of options. It is highly recommended to enter at least 40-50 options to avoid being 'Not Allotted' in the first round.

What is the 'Golden Rule' of KCET Choice Filling?

Never put a college you like less above a college you like more, regardless of cutoffs. If you are allotted your 5th choice, choices 6 and below are automatically cancelled.

Can I change my options after the first round?

You can only re-order or delete options in the second round. You generally cannot add new options in Round 2 unless new seats are added to the matrix.

How does the KEA seat allotment algorithm work?

The computer starts with Rank 1 and checks their 1st preference. If a seat is available, it's allotted. If not, it checks their 2nd preference, and so on, before moving to Rank 2.
